Things moving forward in life

It has been a longtime since we posted to this blog about our lives. But, with the exciting developments of the last few weeks it seems that it is time to start publishing again! Meredith, and I are doing great, we are starting the next phase of our lives. This next phase is going to take us to Bali, Indonesia to teach in the Bali International School. We are very excited about this wonderful opportunity not only professionally but also personally. From all that we have heard thus far in our research the Island is amazing and the culture is very interesting. We hope that all of you reading this blog with continue to follow our story as our adventure begins. We will continue to post stories and pictures as things progress!

The wedding

Magnificent experiences come in all shapes and sizes. Some start out as mere impromptu situations that have no premeditated planning or thought. Others are the result of months of number crunching and detail oriented foresight; that, if all the time and hard work payoff become flawless examples of the perfect event. Our wedding was a little bit of both of these things. Even after all the the planning a sleepless nights, I was still not sure exactly how the night would play out. The evening started out with one of the emotional ceremonies that I, and most of the audience members (or so they boasted to us all night) had even see. As I fade back into the evening, which I have done countless times since that fateful night, the most indelible image in my mind is the glorious picture of the perfect bride rounding the corner and coming towards me. I almost broke into a regalia of tears at the mere sight of Mer and the glowing beauty that is her. Jason, Meredith's cousin, said it to me the best, "man I have been to a lot of weddings. Maybe even 30, or so, and at most of those wedding people say their own vows to each other. Most of those people use unoriginal cliche's that almost have no feeling. But, everyone could tell that you two said how you really feel about each other. It was beautiful!" (It was a lot funnier in person!) Anyway the day was perfect all the people that came were a lot of fun and the whole evening was absolutely wonderful. I will let the pictures of this one do the speaking for me!

The Big Day

Meredith and I have decided to start our own blog about our life and love together. We felt that since our marriage is marking a whole new phase of our glorious journey through eternity, that it would also be a great topic for our first blog. Weddings have become a serious form of business in our county and as we found out everyone wants their cut. The work and details that go into your special day are not only time consuming but also very pricey. But, as both Mer and I realized as we stayed up until the very wee hours of the morning the day after our wedding recounting the details and delights of the event that we somehow pulled off; it was all worth the time (and most of the money). Our wedding journey started over a year ago with a faithful decision and trip to Kansas City, MO to see if we could find the perfect locale to join our lives and car insurance bills for eternity. After setting appointments, visiting location after location and get the run around about the prices and never ending requiem of different rules and no-no's that we would be encountering. We ran into it, The Historic Loose Mansion, it was everything that we had wanted for a venue, on site catering, historic meaning and unsurpassed beauty and class to boot. We could also bring in our own liquor which if you know anything about boozing is a big deal. With that part out of the way the stage was set. We spent the better part of three different trips from Denver to KC hashing out details and picking out decor. We even went to a remarkable tasting of the food that we would be eating, we ate so much that I was uncomfortable for two days. Not all the details were being completed in Kansas City. Mer had picked out her faithful dress and had to go to three different fitting to ensure its quality and flattering fit would be perfect for the big day. But as we found out with the wedding process what can go wrong will go wrong (guess we should have listened to Murphy and his set of laws huh!) The day that Mer was supposed to pick up that masterpiece of clothing a ominous phone call came in. "The dress she has been ruined!" it was like a 1920's Charlie Chaplin movie, chaotic and mind numbing with enough slapstick to make it almost comical. A second dress was chosen and hurriedly altered to fit. She had to wait until KC to try it on, so she would not know until about three days before our wedding if it wold fit. Low and behold it was taken in so far a wafe like super model could not get into it. By this time I am fairly sure Mer was ready to call the whole thing off and we would get married by ourselves on a mountain top or beach. But, her love for me shined through and with the help of Becky (Mer's mom and Judy my mom) they found our savior lady by the name of Donna. She did in one fitting what the other people with D' anelli Bridal could never do. The dress fit. From there everything else was gravy. Except the fact that Mer got a ticket for following a cop too close (what a Joke and the story there was quite an experience or so I hear. The Ceremony will be my next blog tomorrow. The picture attached is a little preview of the wonderful night that we shared together with or friends and family.
